Every Saturday morning before first pitch, Ridge Field hosts the loudest hour of the week: the Skills Showdown, our all-ages weekly challenge.
Base-running races. Home to first, timed, with handicaps by age group so a 6-year-old can genuinely beat a 12-year-old. The season leaderboard hangs on the concession-stand wall.
Golden-glove station. Coaches rapid-fire grounders at three difficulty levels. Clean-field five in a row and your name goes on the golden glove — literally, a gold-painted glove on the fence.
Around-the-horn relay. Teams of five race the ball around the infield. Dropped ball? Start over. The current record is 11.4 seconds, set by last year's 12U squad, and every age group is gunning for it.
Competition is free for registered players and families make the best hecklers in youth sports. Come watch any Saturday at 9 AM.
