Young hitters do not need a perfect swing — they need three repeatable habits. These are the cues every Rookie Ridge junior coach uses, from tee-ball to kid pitch.
1. Athletic feet. Feet just wider than shoulders, knees soft, weight on the balls of the feet. If a gentle push would topple them, reset the stance.
2. Quiet hands, small load. Hands start near the back shoulder and drift back an inch or two as the pitch comes. Big leg kicks and bat waggles look exciting and ruin timing — keep the move small.
3. Finish the swing. New hitters stop at contact. We teach "hit it and show your numbers" — a full turn so the chest faces the pitcher at the finish. Finished swings become line drives.
Reps beat lectures: 50 focused tee swings, three times a week, will transform a junior hitter in a month.
